Considering you can get a 250GB hdd for $50 this really isnt a good deal, you’re much better off getting the 120GB and saving yourself some money. 120GB is actually a ton of space anyways and most people are hard pressed to even fill half of that.

  2. As a Whole is an amazing price and value, Ps3 always had this amazing value, previously had an 80GB backwards compatible, but while in a storm a thunder burned it with my DVD. Then this option came out. My 80GB where always full so I had to delete things every week, demos, movies, music etc.. And for these price, I get 250GB!!!! I know I can chage de Hard Drive, but I really dont want to(laizy I know), there for this option was the one for me, both PS3 are excelent price point. Plus, incredibly silent, it doesnt have backwards compatibility sadly, but its not that bad. PS3 games have become for my opinion far better than those on 360, exclusives etc, and some third party also. But its good to have both choices. I just dont like Microsoft products, its far more expensive in the end, always.

Excelent console, specially with a Bravia, using Bravia Sync. Great Plus!

We bought this not so much as a game playing device, but as a combination blu ray player that can stream netflix content. We favored the PS3 over the xBox 360 because the PS3 has no additional subscription fees for net access (XBox is something like $50/year). As a Blu Ray player it is flawless (be sure to get the PS3 adapter for harmony remotes if you have one of those). As a netflix streaming device, it has been a bust. We have a super fast Cable connection to the internet with download speeds in excess of 12 MB/sec, yet the wait to display the available titles is excruciatingly slow, and it can take a couple of minutes after selecting a title to get a “This title cannot be played at this time” message. In contrast, browsing streaming netflix content from the Mac mini on the same internet connection is speedy & flawless. This leads me to conclude that the problem is with the software that netflix provides for the PS3. In the PS3′s defense, once playback has begun, the streaming is flawless, and the picture is beautiful. It is just finding and selecting content that will make you run from the room screaming…

On another Note, I was impressed that it discovered our Sonos music system, and was really excited when it displayed all the titles in our music library. Then I discovered it couldn’t play any of the content because it is encoded in the Apple Lossless format, which the PS3 won’t play. Sigh.

I bought this the PlayStation 3 250GB for myself after seeing a commercial on TV. It was the one where this lady was watching a BlueRay movie, and the little boy just wanted to play a video game(he was complaining to his father?). His whining turned on deaf ears, because the lady was sitting there not moving enjoying the movie. A light went off in my head – Hey I can watch movies too on my Sony Bravia KDL-46. I already have a Toshiba HD-DVD(gathering dust)player, and I wanted someone that can do something besides play games. Voila Sony PlayStation 3 250GB – surf the net/watch movies/netfix etc. Who could ask for anything more? I hope there are no other systems upcoming – we already have a WII/XBOX 360/PS3/DS & PSP.

  5. I was a little hesitant considering the $350 with the bigger hard drive but whatever hardrive size you get, this machine is AWESOME. Blu-Ray, internet, game console all top of the line. Probably one of the best “extras” is the fact that you can also sign up for netflix and stream it straight to your tv. No downloading, just add it to your list and watch. Again this machine is A+++++.
