Compared to GH and RB, it’s poor quality. But, I’m a big fan of rhythm games, so I bought a cheap used one. The 2 dimensional fretboard makes the notes harder to see, and they’re small. Some of the songs are good, many are not.

  3. As a budget title, this game is indispensable to any fans of Guitar Hero and Rock Band. That’s right, for $20, this is a must-buy rhythm game. Now, if you’re not en established rhythm game fan, I’d recommend acquainting yourself with one of the other popular series first (ideally Rock Band), but for everyone else, this is a no-brainer. The 41 songs included are almost all covers (Paralyzer by Finger Eleven and Given Up by Linkin Park are masters), and the covers range from really good to miserable, but every song is worth playing a few times if only because this game’s format is so refreshingly different from GH and RB, which play very similarly. The additional game modes encourage you to play songs a few times without it being the least bit boring. You can’t sing in this game, which doesn’t affect the majority of rhythm game players, but I’m somewhat disappointed since i liked singing, and it would have been a way to make up for the covers, but it’s to be expected from a budget title, and the remaining game modes are very satisfying. They all take some time to get used to, but they’re never boring, unlike many of the songs in GH and RB. You cannot create a character in this game, and I’ve only found one character I like, but honestly the onstage presentation isn’t all that impressive (better than GH, much worse than RB), so you’ll most likely want to ignore it anyway. So far, the game’s DLC has been lackluster with the notable exception of a five-song Pantera pack (this is still the only rhythm game on the 360 with Pantera), but there’s a treasure trove of talented Japanese artists they could easily tap into, which I’m hoping they do.

This game is not on par with the bigger rhythm games, but the price reflects that and it’s an essential supplement

I have Rockband 2 and this game doesn’t have all the same features but hey it’s 1/3 of the price! The bands are covers but they’re songs I rocked to most of my life. If you don’t care about all the player customization and just want to jam this game is great for you!

First off, this is like GH little brother, not refined, all the songs are covers and the load times take forever. I have not figured out how to get a full screen image of the song while playing, it tucks you away in a corner similiar to Rock Band when you are playing with 4 people, even though you are playing alone…maybe to “show off” their stage graphics or something. The Hammer-ons and Pull-offs seem difficult to time and not forgiving at all, though the regular notes to offer some forgiveness. The recording mode seems to have something missing, I hope this feature on GH is a lot better. Tried to take it online and it took about 10 minutes to find a single match. A game like this you need a lot of people to buy it for online to work, and thus far that does not seem to be the case. In summation, the online achievements may be difficult to get because of lack of people playing, and I would guess that in about a month you could get this game for about $30.00, so maybe just wait.
