I have a lot of games for the DS, and I do mean a lot but not too many of them makes me want to play my DS for hours on end. This game does!
When I went to pick up this game it seemed like an interesting idea and might be fun. Well it actually is really fun. I have been playing this game almost non-stop for 3 days. I almost can’t wait to get home so I can play this game. Definitely worth getting! Since other reviews will tell you about game play and stuff I’m mostly writing this review for tips.
TIPS:
- Make sure to buy at least one thing from every category of every designer (ie one inner, one coat, one pants, one skirt, one dress, one shoes) you make major bucks usually by selling whole outfits to match something from a designer.
- Make sure to buy at least one type of every thing in a category (doesn’t matter from what designer), get things like corsets, sweatshirts, long skirts, coats and causal dresses because customers will ask for very specific things and if you don’t have any that’s not good, but they will basically take it by any designer.
- Make sure you have at least one item in every color, some customers you can sell them anything if it’s in their color, these are people that are dressed in the same color.
- Usually by one of things, unless you plan on making an ad or asked for an outfit for a magazine then buy ten. So either buy one or ten of anything.
- When you make an ad usually people won’t buy from it till the day after you send out the ad. Don’t try to force your ad items on anyone, they will ask for it if they want it.
- When you put an outfit on a mannequin make sure to stay less than 6 items on or it won’t sell.
- When you do contest also stay less than 6 items or you won’t win but really any combination you come up with you will win unless you try putting like 8+ items on your model, I did this and they said I was trying too hard.
- Visit the buying place often, even though you calendar says that only certain shops are there on certain days, sometimes all the shops are there when you visit.
It’s a lot of fun for everyone. My B/F watched me a bit while I was playing and he couldn’t figure out how I knew what everyone wanted but after a day of picking our clothes for people in the game, you get the hang of it and it’s really fun to try to make sure you have the right items in stock and it’s fun to see what new items are for sell at the buyers place.
It feels like you can probably “beat” this game in about 1 and half weeks, if you played it for 4-6 hours a day (which is what I’m doing) but I think it might have more lasting power than that. This is definitely a game for the casual gamer to have fun with for a while.
I think “beating” this game would be something like; winning all the contests, buying all the make-up, collecting all the clothes (this might take more than a 1.5 weeks), having a ton of money, getting to 5 stars in your shop (can be done in a day) and unlocking all the music and store displays.
It was definitely worth getting this at full price. I am having a lot of fun with it and it doesn’t seem to get boring or repetitive, even though you’re basically helping customers pick out clothes most of the time, they are all different and even when you think you got it down you will find someone you can’t please which makes you want to work harder in having the right stuff in stock.

I have a pretty stressful life, so I often play DS before I go to bed to turn OFF all the stuff going on in my head. Usually I like games that don’t require a lot of brain work, but still interesting enough for me to play it every night. This isn’t an easy task, because honestly, there just isn’t that many games out there for the average 25-35 year old working professional.
The last game two games I played that keep me going night after night until I finish the game was Scribblenauts and Disney Fairies: Tinkerbell, < --- Not to be mistaken for Disney Fairies: Tinkerbell and The Lost Treasure. THAT game was crap... meant for the average 6 year old?
Anyway, this game is great. Every customer that comes in the store is different, so you really have to have some skill (& some good guesswork) to figure out what they want. The game also has a storyline and you don’t get bored because after you have “worked” in a certain stage, you move on to something else. Example, you start as a Staff working at a Clothing Store. Then after you have helped an X number of people and have gotten some good rankings, you move to be in charge of your own store.
You are never at a lost because there is always someone to “remind” you when you get off track. (For instance, if you have played a while and have not saved, one of the girls will come by and tell you you have worked a long day, and you should go home and rest… etc.)
I have not finished the game yet, but I can see this is now my new fix.
For those who want to “move ahead” to another season, just change the date and months of your DS and you can time-warp to another season = )
