listen for one moment in your life theres no competition between these two great products, I owned both at one point and I was the neutral one. But i have to say for the same price Guitar Hero World Tour is a much better buy. Im not favoriting anything but i just think Rock Band 2 was alot less appealing than guitar hero.
for rock band 2 and guitar hero there are 4 instruments. Let me compare the instruments from both games.
1. Microphone-singer Guitar hero is much better because its easier to follow and it has much cleaner volcals. Rock bands vocals can get kind of scratchy at higher notes(listen you can hear it) On rock band 2 there is this little feather like line that follows your pitch, that dumb little thing throws you off and its harder to sing. Guitar hero has this helpful little bar that keeps up with your vioce instead of depleating it like rock band. guitar hero is much better for singers
2 Guitar and bass
Much more realistic than rockband 2, Rockband 2 guitar feels too plasticish Let me start by saying Rockband has the worst hammer ons and hammer offs of the two. there are also less frets on rock band then guitar hero which i felt wierd about. Coool new feature about guitar hero is that theres a slider bar, so now you can Van Helen all the way down the hall without strumming and enjoy pretty neon colors which was a cool extra. Rock band ahs nothing new exciting. Guitar hero kills in guitar gameplay.
3 MY FAVORITE DRUMS!!
I had to change the drums on my rockband 2 game twice!! on guitar hero it took even two weeks after for the right symbol to give out on my guitar hero world tour drum set cause i hit the drums hard. Guitar hero drum set is more durable and will last longer. Second the bass pedal on guitar hero is much easier to hit than on rock band. your foot gets tired after awhile on rock band. finally design, Rock band set up the drums litteraly all drums, which is rediculous i cant hit a drum knowing its supposed to be a symbol what a killer( drummers understand) Guitar hero has symbol resembling “drums” which is clever cause the drum gameplay is much easier to follow on guitar hero than rock band. Rock bands drummer gameplay is to cramped and the bass is just as yellow as the fret itself. Its harder to play rockband drums cause its so jampacked and the screen flashes when you hit a note which bugs cause i have a sixty inch and after awhile it kind of blinds you. Drums on guitar hero nuke rockband.
Overall there both fun but after a while rock band got boring and unappealing. I sold my rock band to my friend for 100$. Im not a guitar hero fanatic im just someone that bought both products and did my own little experiement and in conclusion guitar hero is a much better buy for your 180$ STAY AWAY FROM ROCKBAND 2

Product arrived promptly and before xmas. The packaging was so poor, I was amazed that it arrived unharmed. Two pieces of tape to secure the package, enabled my youngest son to just push lightly on the box and the contents were viewable. I ended up not giving it for xmas, as planned, since the surprise wasn’t a surprise anymore.

This is a great Game. I do like the tracks on RB2 they are better than Guitar hero world tour. My only problem was with the Game disc itself.
The first disc did not work at all. I got a “Disc error” on my Xbox360.
I exchanged the disc, The second disc worked fine if I played any of the 20 first songs and then gave me an error if I player the 20+ songs or if I went into training mode.
When I tried to exchange it, my local Toys’r us was out of stock (apparently everybody was returning their discs).
I tried to rent the disc at the local blockbuster, they were all sent back for repair.
This seems to be a major problem affecting the Xbox 360 disc.

We’re big Fake Rockers now, and that’s thanks to Rock Band. The franchise has a lot going for it, so I won’t bore you with it’s many good points. If you’re even the slightest bit interested then you’ll probably have a blast with it.
Our problem, sadly, was intense enough to cancel all those pros out. Owning the instruments from both the first and second games, they’ve completely died on us. We don’t mean that we’ve been using them too much or too hard, that we could rationalize away. There seems to be a fundamental problem with the power: namely, that the xBox 360 and the PlayStation 3 (we can’t speak for the Wii) cannot supply enough power to the instruments to have them all going at once…over time this problem escalates, and now our drums won’t work at all. According to the site’s official message boards, this isn’t only a common problem with the drums, but with the guitars as well.
By far our worst experience was with customer service. Seeing that they had a growing problem on their hands, they started enforcing their 60 day return cut-off (our problems happened 6 months in) and completely ignore our tech support emails and forum posts. Phoning only resulted in EA blaming Harmonix, Harmonix blaming Sony and Sony blaming EA in an ever-going game of hot potato for the culpability. They try to pin the blame on you, the customer, in several ways but none of them hold water…least of all the childish “you must have hit the drums too hard” line that so many others have complained about.
I don’t think I’ve ever left a review on Amazon before, and certainly not a negative one. But after a week of trial and error, trying to narrow down the causes of this power problem, I’ve completely given up on the franchise. Our household is looking into Guitar Hero and some of the other music games instead. Amazon’s video review option sounds like a phenomenal idea, we’ll try to upload our problem to show you how truly unplayable it makes this game.
Again, love everything about this game except for the fact that many folks have found that the instruments don’t work. Not the majority I should say, but unfortunately a large and significant number. If you’re really into Rock Band, we suggest waiting until the 3 game comes out, and then after reading every review on it you can find first.

Rock Band 2 has been a fun game for all my friends. However, after about nine hours of total play, the microphone stopped registering sound without apparent reason in the middle of a song. Tried all sorts of troubleshooting, but it’s broken. Had to spent 40 minutes on hold with EA games to start the complicated return process. Hopefully the return goes through without a hitch and we can resume playing again. It will take at least two weeks to get the new mic though. Bottom line: fun game, disappointing and frustrating hardware problems.
